Justice SA Bobde to be next CJI, to take oath on 18 November
October 29: Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, the 63-year-old senior-most Supreme Court judge is scheduled to take charge of the top court on November 18, a day after the present CJI Ranjan Gogoi demits office. President Ram Nath Kovind on October 29 signed a warrant to appoint Justice Sharad A. Bobde as the next Chief Justice of India (CJI). Justice Bobde’s term will end on 23 April, 2021.
A judge since 2000, Justice Bobde joined the Bombay High Court as an additional judge. He was nominated as the Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice in October 2012. In April 2013, he was elevated to the Supreme Court.
