Assam CM Urges People To Light ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ For PM Modi

way2barak, September 16 :  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to people to light an earthen lamp, or ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’, at their homes and places of worship on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

Sarma urged citizens to light the lamps in the evening and pray for the Prime Minister’s good health and long life. The initiative is part of the month-long ‘Seva and Samarpan’ or ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, scheduled from September 17 to October 17.

The campaign will also mark 25 years of Mr Modi’s public service, including his tenure as Gujarat chief minister and as Prime Minister. Sarma described the lamp-lighting as a symbolic gesture of goodwill and celebration.

Preparations are underway across Assam for various programmes to mark the occasion. In his social media appeal, Sarma highlighted what he described as Modi’s contributions to Assam, saying his leadership had brought the state “from the periphery to the centre” and increased the Northeast’s prominence in the national discourse.
