March 17:Campaigning for Lok Sabha Election even before declaration of list of candidates by the ruling BJP has reached its fever height. Weeks ahead of Lok Sabha elections and a day after launching ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign on Twitter, following Modi, all the BJP leaders have changed their names on Twitter accounts. Even the #MainBhiChowkidar campaign on Twitter became a top worldwide trend on the micro-blogging site.
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s renaming of his Twitter handle to “Chowkidar Narendra Modi”. Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also followed his footsteps and renamed his Twitter handle to ‘Chowkidar Himanta Biswa Sarma’. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal too followed the suit. BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju also turned Chowkidar.
विकास की रफ्तार के लिए,
भ्रष्टाचार पर प्रहार के लिए,
आतंक के उपचार के लिए,
भारत की ललकार के लिए,

The campaign #MainBhiChowkidar has been launched to counter Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s attacks on Modi and his government over the Rafale deal. Modi released a video with the same title on Twitter and said, “Your Chowkidar is standing firm and serving the nation”. The word chowkidar dates back to the 2014 general elections poll campaign when Modi had promised to work as a chowkidar to guard people’s money if elected to power.
The Lok Sabha Elections will be held in 7 phases in the country starting from 11 April. The results will be announced on 23 May, 2019.
