7 more Covid +ve patients die at SMCH in last 24 hours

88 patients in ICU, 23 in ventilator support & 162 put under oxygen at SMCH

May 25: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 07 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 07 deceased, 04 are from Cachar district, 02 from Karimganj & 01 from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as:

  • Muzibur Ragman Mazumder (50) from Gonigram in Katigorah, Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 24 May. He, however, died at 6.10 PM on the same day (24 May).
  • Surajit Deb (70) from Patharkandi in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 24 May. He too died on the same evening (24 May).
  • Sudhangshu Chanda (81) from Padma Nagar (Bilpar), Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 24 May. He breathed his last at 11.40 on 24 May.
  • Rajarshi Bhattacharjee (35) from Latu in Karimganj district took admission at SMCH on 25 May. He breathed his last at 10.20 AM on the same day (25 May).
  • Bijoy Rakshit (72) from Itkhola, Silchar got admitted at SMCH on 25 May. He too passed away on the same day at 12.30 PM (25 May).
  • Nazim Uddin Barbhuiya (55) from Berenga in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 24 May. He expired at 2.20 PM on 25 May.
  • Abdul Nur Choudhury (60) from Katlicherra in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 25 May. He passed away at 2.12 PM on the same day (25 May).
