Ram Madhab dropped from new ‘Team BJP’, MP Dilip Saikia from Assam inducted

Sept. 26: J.P. Nadda, BJP President on Saturday announced his new team of office-bearers. The list is ofcourse a mixed bag of surprise for many. Big names within the saffron brigade- Ram Madhav, P. Muralidhar Rao, Saroj Pande and Anil Jain were dropped from the new Team BJP. Ram Madhav was in charge of Jammu and Kashmir and the North East. His exclusion just before the assembly polls in Assam has raised several eyebrows on the shift of the epicentre of power within the party circle.

Dilip Saikia, a first-term MP from Mangaldoi in Assam, was made General Secretary. It was indeed a big promotion for him. Apart from Saikia, the northeastern states were given heavy representation. M. Chuba Ao from Nagaland was made national vice-president and Mohonlumo Kikon, MLA from Nagaland, had been appointed one of the national spokespersons. This reflects not just the party’s expansion in these areas. The list may soon be expanded with fresh appointments to other cells and morchas.
