Screening camp for differently abled persons evokes good response in Hailakandi
Sept.26: A district level screening for specially abled persons was organised by district administration in association with Childline (1098) and Health department at SS College here on Friday. For the first time disability tests were conducted in the district, thanks to the initiative of Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal.
Differently abled persons tuned up at the venue to avail the opportunity provided. The screening camp acting as One Stop Centre for specially abled persons consisted of doctors from Psychiatry, ENT, Orthopaedic, Pediatric and Ophthalmology departments of SK Roy Civil Hospital and Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Rapid Antigen Tests for detection of corona were conducted at the entrance of the venue. 402 differently abled persons and their attendants underwent the tests. NGOs like Ekota came forward to distribute face masks free of cost to the attendees at the camp. Around 150 provisional disability certificates were distributed to the differently abled persons.
Circle Officer, Hailakandi, Tridib Roy, who was deputed as a magistrate for the camp thanked the doctors, volunteers of Childline (1098) and DDMA for their collective efforts in making the camp a hugely successful one.
Roy disclosed that the administration is planning to hold such camps at regular intervals in near future.
