Sharp decline in COVID-19 cases in Cachar on Sunday, only 48 detected positive

3 more patients of Cachar cancer Hospital found positive

Sept. 20: Once again during the week, the number of coronavirus cases came down below 50 in Cachar. On Sunday, a total of only 48 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 674 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 35 persons were found positive, whereas 13 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,205 till now. It needs mention here that 82 persons were found positive in Cachar on Saturday.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test, 5 persons were detected COVID-19 positive in Cachar district on Sunday. Out of the five, 3 are from Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC), Silchar. All three of them are asymptomatic. They are a 23 years old female from Dinabandhu Lane, Kanakpur; 35 years old female from meherpur and a 70 years old male from Jhalupara, Silchar.

Apart from them, a 26-year-old pregnant woman in near labour from Padampur in Cachar district was also tested positive. She is at present admitted at SMCH. The last one in this slot is a 29 years old female from Koomber tea Estate. She came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test, 02 persons from Cachar were found positive. Both of them have travel history. One of them is a 42 years old female from Suncity, Silchar who travelled by air from Delhi. The other is a 45-year-old male from Kazidohar-2 who is an air passenger from Jaipur. Both of them are asymptomatic.

The other slots were not made available till the filing of this report.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, 232 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 447 persons were collected. 479 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 21 of them tested positive. Further, 163 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 08 were found positive.

Apart from this, 13 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 18 were discharged. At present, there are 141 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 22 patients are now in critical condition. Another 27 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 129 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 242 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 person from Tripura died at SMCH. As of now, there were 139 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 139 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
