Ventilators arrive at Karimganj Civil Hospital on Friday
August 28: The lack of ventilators at Karimganj Civil Hospital had created great obstacles in the treatment of patients suffering from coronavirus. The issue was highlighted since couple of months by MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha. However, things assumed a positive turn just after a day of the visit of Pijush Hazarika, Minister of State of Health & Family Welfare. During his visit at Karimganj Civil Hospital, he assured that ventilators will soon be made available there.
Expressing his views MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha said, “As there is no ventilator and ICU in Karimganj, Covid patients are facing severe problems. I have repeatedly demanded from the Chief Minister and other ministers of the state government for improved health infrastructure. I spoke to Samir Sinha, the Chief Secretary of the health department in Dispur, about the issue. I sat on dharna. During the visit of Hon’ble Minister of State for Health Pijush Hazarika to Karimganj, I also made it clear that ventilators and ICUs must be replaced here. Finally, ventilators have reached Karimganj today. I hope the ICU of Karimganj Civil Hospital will be operational soon.”
Just a day after Pijush Hazarika’s visit in Karimganj, ventilators arrived at Karimganj Civil Hospital on Friday. As per the assurance of the minister, a 20 bedded ICU will be set up at Karimganj Civil Hospital within next 20-25 days. Mr. Hazarika further assured that 10 oxygen concentrators for Karimganj Civil Hospital will arrive within this month.
