Cachar registers 2 more COVID-19 deaths at SMCH, district death tally rises to 11

August 12: Cachar registered two more COVID-19 deaths. Both the patients were admitted in the ICU at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). They died on Tuesday and their deaths were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 deaths. This was disclosed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH.

Dr. Gupta further said that, 2 deceased were identified as Namita Dey (53) from Sarat Pally, Silchar. She was admitted at SMCH on 30 July. Apart from being COVID-19 positive, she was also suffering from pneumonia. She was kept in COVID ICU of SMCH. However, she succumbed to the infection on Tuesday. The other deceased was identified as Himangshu Dey (70) from Amraghat in Cachar. He was also admitted in the ICU of SMCH. However, he too breathed his last on Tuesday.

With this, the death toll in Cachar district due to COVID-19 has gone upto 11.
