Air India flight skids off runway, splits in two with 191 on board

August 6: Air India Express Dubai-Kozhikode flight IX 1344 overshot the runway at Kerala’s Kozhikode Airport after landing on Friday evening and reportedly split in two. Many were removed from the debris and immediately rushed to three hospitals in the vicinity. Passengers have been shifted to various hospitals, including Relief and Mercy hospitals in Kondotty in Malappuram. Two people, including the pilot, have lost their lives, according to initial reports. Over 45 have been injured so far, and many were moved from the debris and rushed to hospitals. Some passengers are in critical condition.

Even as the rescue operations are still underway, it is not known how many have been injured. According to reports and visuals, many have been grievously injured.
