27 detected +ve in Cachar including new born baby, doctor of SMDCH & police officer

July 25: Another 27 persons were detected COVID-19 positive in Cachar district till Saturday late evening. 11 of them were tested positive in Rapid Antigen Test, while 16 of them were detected positive in RTPCR test. Six out of the 27 are jawans of Assam Rifles, one doctor of SM Dev Civil Hospital (SMDCH), OC of Silchar Sadar Police Station and a 8-day-old baby among others. This was disclosed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday evening.

He further added that till now results of some more slots are yet to come and so the number of positive cases will be increasing in the night.

Dr. Arpita Deb posted at SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar was tested positive on Saturday afternoon after Rapid Antigen Test. As per reports she was admitted in the COVID ward of SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar. She is learnt to have been asymptomatic. Officer in-charge of Silchar Police Station Ditumani Goswami also tested positive in Rapid Antigen Test. Another 8-day-old baby of Ruma Rikiason presently at SMCH was detected as COVID-19 positive. The baby is asymptomatic and came in direct contact with a high risk lab confirmed case.

Apart from them, Rana Ch Deb (49) from Swamiji Road, Silchar was also positive Abul Kalam Choudhury (38) of Berenga Part-2 presently quarantined at Assam University was tested after he had fever. His report is also positive. Tajamul Ali Laskar (65) of Valley Hospital, Tapash Chanda (37) of Athal Basti, Achamul Haque Laskar (22) of Paikam, Gumrah, RK Mala (21) from Kaptanpur-18 who is presently at SMCH (health worker) also tested positive. These are some of the positive cases detected on Saturday.

Apart from them, there are 6 jawans of Assam Rifles who were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. All of them are asymptomatic and came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. They are Suk Ram (42), Saranjit Singh (56), AK Thakur (56), Kishori Singh (57), Mahabir Urang (30) and Govind Singh (56).

Suman Choudhury further stated that Government of Assam has decided to reduce the home quarantine period after discharge from hospital to 7 days. He also said that even if somebody comes from outside the state , then also he/she will be quarantined for 7 days. Earlier, the period of home quarantine was for 14 days.
