DM Cachar declares Containment Zone near GC College & a house at Shivalik Park

June 30: On Tuesday, 17 persons were tested COVID-19 positive. All of them have travel history. Out of them two persons were in home quarantine. These two persons who were put under home quarantine, but later tested positive are a 65-years-old lady from Lane No.6 at Shivalik Park, Meherpur in Silchar. She travelled by air from Delhi to Silchar. As per SOP, her swab was collected at Silchar airport and she was placed under home quarantine. However, her swab result was positive.

As a result, Keerthi Jalli, District Magistrate cum Chairperson DDMA, Cachar in an order issued on 30 June declared that in order to contain the further spread of the virus in the area surrounding the house of the corona positive patient, her house in Lane No.5 at Shivalik Park, Meherpur in Silchar was declared as Containment Zone, which was also immediately sealed.

In another incident, a 28-year-old male who was an air passenger from Guwahati was also placed under home quarantine, who later on tested positive. Sources in the health department reported that this patient was symptomatic. As a result, the District Magistrate of Cachar declared the house of the positive patient at Arati Apartment, near G.C. College, Silchar as a Containment Zone, which was also immediately sealed.

To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:

  1. Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
  2. No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
  3. Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
  4. No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
  5. No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
  6. People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
  7. Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.

District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli stated that the orders are issued under the Regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and shall be effective from 1600 hours of 30 June, 2020 until further orders.
