DC Jalli visits interior village in Assam-Manipur border, took stock of facilities therein
June 25: A team of officials lead by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner Cachar visited the village of Kapakhal, last forest village in the border of Assam- Manipur to monitor the Assam Community Surveillance Program (ACSP) on Covid preparedness.The village is located at such a geographical location that one has to reach the village through Jiribam in Manipur or after riding on boat for more than two hours which the Deputy Commissioner chose to go by.
DC Jalli listened to their long pending demands of road, drinking water, extension of education facilities up to senior secondary level. L. Khingte, ADC, Lakhipur Sub-division, Dr. S. J. Das, Joint Director of Health Services, R. K. Kedia, District Social Welfare Officer, and other health officials were also part of the team.
Apart from the ACSP, the Health Department arranged for ANC checkup, screening of non-communicable diseases and bed nets impregnation for prevention of Malaria. Jalli visited school, Anganwadi Centre, water tank in the blazing heat of the day and took first hand information of facilities available in the village. Deputy Commissioner assured that she will very soon take up with the concerned departments to sort out the issues related to development of the village. The villagers were extremely elated to find a Deputy Commissioner come to their doorstep to enquire about their well being. As it started raining, the team left by boat again back to Jiribum.
