Assam University Releases Two Scholarly Volumes on Sustainable Development in Northeast India
উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতে টেকসই উন্নয়ন নিয়ে দুটি গবেষণাগ্রন্থ প্রকাশ আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৩ জুন : উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের টেকসই উন্নয়ন বিষয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অ্যাকাডেমিক মাইলফলক স্পর্শ করল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। সমাজকর্ম বিভাগ আয়োজিত নর্থ ইস্ট ইন্টারন্যাশনাল সাসটেইনেবল সামিটের অংশ হিসেবে দুটি সম্পাদিত গবেষণাগ্রন্থ বুধবার আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে প্রকাশিত হয়। বই দুটির মোড়ক উন্মোচন করেন উপাচার্য রাজীব মোহন পন্থ ও নিবন্ধক ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ। এ উপলক্ষে উপাচার্যের কার্যালয়ে আয়োজিত এক সংক্ষিপ্ত অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ড. লালজো এস. থাংজম, অধ্যাপক এম. তিনেশ্বরী দেবী, অধ্যাপক মৌসুম হ্যান্ডিক, এম. ঈশ্বরজিৎ সিংহ, অবন্তিকা লাংথাসা, এন. সুভাইসিনি দেবী সহ অন্যরা।

প্রকাশিত দুটি গ্রন্থের মধ্যে প্রথমটি ‘প্রমোটিং সাস্টেইনেবল ডেভেলপমেন্ট থ্রো ইনোভেশন, কনজারভেশন অ্যান্ড ইনক্লুসিভ গ্রোথ ইন নর্থইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া’। এই গ্রন্থে উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের বিশেষ পরিবেশগত, সাংস্কৃতিক ও উন্নয়নমূলক বাস্তবতার প্রেক্ষাপটে টেকসই উন্নয়নের বিভিন্ন দিক বিশদভাবে আলোচিত হয়েছে। গ্রন্থটিতে নারী উদ্যোক্তা উন্নয়ন, ঐতিহ্যবাহী জীবিকা, আদিবাসী জ্ঞানব্যবস্থা, জলবায়ু-সহনশীল কৃষি, সামাজিক সুরক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্য, শিক্ষা, পর্যটন, সুশাসন এবং পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণসহ বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় স্থান পেয়েছে। আন্তঃবিষয়ক ও সমাজভিত্তিক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির মাধ্যমে স্থানীয় অভিজ্ঞতা, সাংস্কৃতিক বৈচিত্র্য এবং তৃণমূল পর্যায়ের উদ্ভাবনকে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে।

দ্বিতীয় গ্রন্থ ‘ সাস্টেইনেবল ফিউচারস ইন নর্থইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া : ব্রিজিং ইনোভেশন, ইকোলজি অ্যান্ড ইকুইটি’তে ওই সম্মেলনে উত্থাপিত বিভিন্ন আলোচনার নির্যাস তুলে ধরার পাশাপাশি গবেষণার ধারাবাহিকতা বজায় রাখা হয়েছে। এতে জনস্বাস্থ্য, ডিজিটাল গণতন্ত্র, পরিবেশভিত্তিক পর্যটন, সম্প্রদায়ভিত্তিক শাসনব্যবস্থা, আর্থিক অন্তর্ভুক্তি, টেকসই কৃষি, কর্পোরেট সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতা, সমাজকর্মমূলক হস্তক্ষেপ, লিঙ্গসমতা, জলবায়ু কার্যক্রম ও আদিবাসী জ্ঞানব্যবস্থার মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে। প্রসঙ্গত, দুটি গ্রন্থ-ই সম্পাদনা করেছেন ড. লালজো এস. থাংজম, অধ্যাপক এম. তিনেশ্বরী দেবী, এম. ঈশ্বরজিৎ সিংহ ও অবন্তিকা লাংথাসা।

Way2barak, June 3 : Assam University has achieved a significant academic milestone with the publication of two edited research volumes focusing on sustainable development in Northeast India. The books were formally released on Wednesday as part of the North East International Sustainable Summit (NEISS) organized by the Department of Social Work. The volumes were unveiled by Vice-Chancellor Rajive Mohan Pant and Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath during a brief ceremony held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office. Among those present were Dr. Lalzo S. Thangjam, Prof. M. Thineshowri Devi, Prof. Mousum Handique, M. Eshwarjit Singh, Avantika Langthasa, and N. Subhaisini Devi, among others.

The first volume, Promoting Sustainable Development through Innovation, Conservation and Inclusive Growth in Northeast India, explores various dimensions of sustainable development within the unique environmental, cultural, and developmental context of the region. The book covers a wide range of topics, including women’s entrepreneurship, traditional livelihoods, indigenous knowledge systems, climate-resilient agriculture, social protection, health, education, tourism, good governance, and environmental conservation. Adopting an interdisciplinary and community-based approach, the volume highlights local experiences, cultural diversity, and grassroots innovations.

The second volume, Sustainable Futures in Northeast India: Bridging Innovation, Ecology and Equity, builds upon the discussions and deliberations presented during the summit while advancing ongoing research in the field. The book examines key issues such as public health, digital democracy, eco-tourism, community-based governance, financial inclusion, sustainable agriculture, corporate social responsibility, social work interventions, gender equality, climate action, and indigenous knowledge systems. Both volumes have been jointly edited by Dr. Lalzo S. Thangjom, Prof. M. Tineshowri Devi, M. Eshwarjit Singh, and Avantika Langthasa. The publications are expected to contribute significantly to academic discourse and policy discussions on sustainable development in Northeast India.
