1,20,000 Yaba Tablet recovered, one apprehended in Silchar

way2barak, 2 December: Based on credible intelligence Cachar Police has conducted a special operation today in the wee hours against the transportation of narcotic substances at Salchapra under the jurisdiction of Silchar Police Station and intercepted two Tata Intra vehicles bearing regd No AZ11EC 2504 and AS 11 EC 4291 coming from Aizawl and apprehended one person namely, Md Azad Lashkar, (20 yrs) of  Berenga.

During the careful search into the vehicle police team recovered 12 packets containing 1, 20,000 Yaba tablets from his possession. The suspected narcotics substance was kept concealed in the potato bags loaded in the vehicles. The price of the narcotics substance in the black market is about 36 crores.

In connection with this the vehicles used in the illegal transportation has also been seized. The consignment of the narcotics substance is suspected to be illegally transported from Aizawl.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma wrote in his X handle, “Kudos to @assampolice for their relentless dedication to the #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign!”

Numal Mahatta, SP Cachar said, “further investigation is going on.”
