Former faculties Mrs Arundhuti Bhattacharjee and and Dr Devasree Dutta, former principal of the college attended the event.
Sharing her thoughts on the release of the wall magazine, Dr Sikidar said that the issue is a pertinent one and she is happy to see that the Department has reflected the different facets of the issue in the wall magazine. She also said that it is always a happy feeling to visit the college and witness the developments. Dr Avinandan Choudhury, while sharing his thoughts on the objective behind the theme of the wall magazine, said that in the Indian context, the Adivasis are seen as a marginalised group in the society. The Adivasi people bear a history of subjugation and on many occasions their lifestyle is threatened by unsustainable industrialisation and urbanisation. Therefore, to disseminate awareness about the need for tribal land rights and popularise their challenges and concerns, we decided to base our wall magazine on the theme of Adivasi Land Rights. We are happy to witness the response from the gathering today. We thank the students and fellow colleagues for their efforts behind the wall magazine, Dr Choudhury maintained.
