‘Humans of Silchar’ meets Chief Minister, express thanks for adopting steps for flood mitigation

way2barak, Nov.30: The devastating flood which occurred in Silchar in June 2022 has left a deep scar in the minds of the people. During that phase many humanitarian orhanisations came forward to help the people who were in distress. Around 18 NGO’s of the town formed a conglomeration under the name ‘Humans of Silchar’.

Since the last three months, they have been raising various issues and providing suggestions to the district administration to adopt appropriate steps for mitigating the issue of the broken embankments etc. However, they were elated on Tuesday, when the cabinet decided to repair the broken embankments. Infact, the Chief Minister after the cabinet announced that an amount of Rs,164 cr has been sanctioned for embankment improvement works, out of which Rs. 59 cr was sanctioned for the Bethukandi dyke alone.

On Tuesday night, the members of ‘Humans of Silchar’ met with the Chief Minister in Silchar and expressed profound thanks for taking appropriate steps for improving the embankments.
