BVWDS & Seva Kendra Silchar ‘World Day Against Trafficking in Persons’

July 30: Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (NGO) Silchar in collaboration with Seva Kendra, Silchar observed “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2022” on 30 July. In the morning, a rally was taken out in this connection and also street plays were performed to make the people aware against trafficking in persons. The rally started from Rangirkhari point and was flagged off by Additional Superintendent of Police , Cachar, Pradip Konwar.

On the same day from 10 AM onwards, a workshop was conducted. It began with lightning of lamp and welcome address by Sr. Swapna, Associate Director of Seva Kendra, Silchar and different dignitaries were present in the workshop, such as, Assistant Commissioner, Cachar Kishan Chorei, Chairperson CWC, Cachar Sujit Kr. Nath, Executive Director, Gaurav Chanda, Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (NGO), Silchar, President Seva Kendra Silchar, Father Joachim Walder , Professor from Social Welfare Department Assam University, Silchar Dr. Albin Joseph, Sr.Sherly Thomas, Arise Foundation India Coordinator, Ngakninei Chiru, Project Director, Ujjawala Shelter Home, Cachar Ms Elizabeth, Advocate DLSA, Rani Pdang, Project Coordinator, SKS, Chandrani Bhattacharjee, District Coordinator IGSSS under Social Welfare, Cachar Rupali Akura, One Stop Centre.

After that a group dance was performed by the Seva Kendra, Silchar which was followed by songs & theme dance. An one-act play was performed by inmates of Ujjawala Shelter Home, Cachar. Later on, all the dignitaries were felicitated by Seva Kendra, Silchar. The dignitaries present shared their views on “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2022”. The workshop came to an end by vote of thanks which was delivered by Raphael Munda.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed on July 30 in a bid to raise awareness about the ordeal of human trafficking victims and the ways to safeguard their rights. Human Trafficking is a glaring issue that still lingers across the world.
