Cachar administration organises programme on “100 days of Good Governance” in Silchar

Aug. 21: Along with other parts of the state, a programme on completion of 100 days of Assam Government was organised by Regional office of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone under the aegis of Cachar district Administration on various development works titled “100 days of Good Governance” at the conference hall of DRDA on Friday.

The keynote speaker Kaushik Rai, Lakhipur MLA said that the present government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has brought a wave of change in various fields. He said, “On May 10, 2021, the newly elected government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath. Since then, this government has taken a number of important decisions in just three months of its formation and fully dedicated itself in the service of the people. The state government has taken steps to recruit one lakh job aspirants in various departments. The recruitment process for these posts will start from September 2021 and will be completed within March 2022.”

He further said that since the state government took over the reins of power, the Assam Police has launched an all-out campaign against drugs across the state to safeguard the larger interests of the state and the future of the youth. Heroin, marijuana, cough syrup and other narcotics worth Rs 189.10 crore were seized. The Chief Minister himself went to Golaghat, Diphu, Nagaon, Hojai and destroyed drugs worth more than Rs 100 crore. MLA Rai said, “The government by appointing Guardian Ministers for each district has started a new measure for ushering in all-round development”.

He also mentioned about various other schemes and projects of the present government which include a Museum at Silchar, treatment facilities for recognised journalists, starting of cattle milk projects in Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and Silchar. MLA Rai said, “Today, the Chief Minister’s office is working 24 hours a day in an unprecedented manner. Within the 10th of every month, 44 lakh beneficiaries are benefited, Arrangements have been made to repay Rs 7,500 crore to 20 lakh microfinance borrowers. The present government has provided vaccine for Covid disease, financial assistance to the relatives of the victims of Covid disease, financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh to their widows.” He outlined various developmental works including land reclamation and setting up in agriculture, decision to form Commando Battalion in Assam, Assam Ratna, Assam Vibhushan, construction of stadiums in different parts of the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Mihar Kanti Shome, MLA of Udharbandh, said that the people have benefited a lot since the government had given the message “no to bribe” in the state. Emphasizing on the Chief Minister Covid 19 widows support scheme, MLA Shome said, “This unique project has been launched only in Assam and this initiative was taken by our Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to extend financial support to the widows who lost their husbands due to corona virus disease”.

“Our Government led by Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma has also fixed an amount of Rs.7.5 lakh for the children who have lost their parents due to COVID and from this fixed amount they can earn Rs.3,000 per month. This money will be used for the education of the orphans. The money will be returned to the orphans after 24 years”. MLA Mihir kanti Shome added.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner Deepak Jidung explained the significance of the day and the objectives of the meeting. Others who spoke during the occasion were Manjul Dev, Chairman, Silchar Development Authority, Eldard Fahreim, Chief Executive Officer, Cachar District Council, Bimalendu Roy, BJP President, Cachar District, and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Sadhan Sarkar.
