7.96 lakh voters to decide fate of 31 candidates in Assam bypoll on 30 October

Oct. 29: The bye-election to the five seats of the Assam Legislative Assembly will be held on 30 October and the counting of the votes will done on 2 November. The 5 seats for which bye-election will take place are-  Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra. A total 7, 96,456 general electors will exercise their right to franchise, of which, 4, 03,374 are males; 3, 93,078 are females and 4 are transgender. 31 candidates are in fray for polls.

The Election Commission has decided to arrange webcasting during the October 30 by-elections to five assembly seats in Assam. Webcasting will be conducted in all the 1,135 polling stations, he said. Through webcasting, the Election Commission officials will be able to monitor the polling process live. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm.
