Cachar observes ‘Shok Divas’ in memory of innocent lives lost in Dhemaji blast;

way2barak, August 16::– The Cachar District Administration on saturday observed Sok Divas in solemn remembrance of the tragic Dhemaji bomb blast of 2004, in which several innocent citizens, including children, lost their lives during Independence Day celebrations.
At the office of the District Commissioner, the programme was led by Additional District Commissioner Shri Hemanga Nobis, ACS, who read out the pledge . Employees of the DC’s office followed him in unison, vowing to stand firmly against terrorism and violence in all forms and to uphold peace, unity, and harmony in society. The solemn recital, attended by officers and staff, created a moment of collective reflection on the values of sacrifice, courage, and resilience.
Alongside the district administration, various other government departments across Cachar also paid their tributes on the occasion. The Office of the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations (DDIPR), Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, too observed Sok Divas with deep reverence. The national flag was flown at half-mast as a gesture of mourning, recalling the devastating bomb attack 21 years ago that shook Dhemaji on a day meant to celebrate freedom and unity.
At the DDIPR office, staff members gathered to honor the departed souls with a minute’s silence and heartfelt prayers. They took a solemn pledge to carry forward the ideals of unity, dedication, and responsibility in their public service, ensuring that the memories of the victims continue to inspire their work for the welfare of society.
The observance served not only as a day of mourning but also as a reminder of the collective responsibility to resist divisive forces and uphold the values of peace and solidarity.
