MLA Dipayan intensifies efforts to flush out stagnant floodwater from Silchar town

May 2: In a bid to flush out the stagnant floodwaters from his constituency, Silchar legislator Dipayan Chakraborty took an initiative and instructed the authorities for setting up of a 40-HP diesel- powered water pump on Tuesday at the Banglaghat sluice gate, which is the main sluice gate of Silchar town.

While expressing his views, Dipayan said, “Keeping an eye on the issue of stagnant floodwaters within my constituency, I’ve employed a 40-HP diesel- powered water pump today from 6 am onwards at Banglaghat sluice gate here which is the main sluice gate of Silchar town. We’ll also be installing another 40-HP electric pump soon to quicken the entire drainage process. I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to drain out all stagnant floodwaters from town and reach a complete solution within the next 2 to 3 days. I hope respected citizens will kindly co-operate in the process. I extend my gratitude towards all my party karyakartas for their assistance and support”. Meanwhile, he was also assisted by a team of Assam Rifles for the purpose.

“I had also requested Col. Girish of Assam Rifles for his kind assistance in the process. Paying heed to my request, he has duly assigned a team of 6 jawans for the cause who will be present with us the entire evening for all sorts of technical assistance. I, on behalf of the Government of Assam, thank him wholeheartedly for his kind gesture and support,” Dipayan added.

It may be noted that over the past week, the Silchar legislator has intensified his efforts to provide relief to people affected as a consequence of the flood. He was seen visiting various regions on a boat and handing out cooked food to people on the way. His efforts were applauded by people all across social media. This is stated in a press release issued from Regional Office and public relations Barak valley zone Assam.
