14 tests Covid +ve in Karimganj on Monday, 13 discharged & 2 deaths reported

Aug 9: Karimganj registered 14 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday. The district has currently 138 active COVID-19 cases, while 13 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Monday. 3,265 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 01 positive case was detected in Karimganj on Sunday.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 8 August to 5 PM on 9 August) witnessed the death of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening. The deceased from Karimganj were identified as:

• Meena Begum (45) from Ashimganj in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 7 August, 2021. She, however, breathed her last at 6.30 PM on 8 August, 2021.
• Sarala Goswami (75) from Ailabari in Karimganj district got admitted at SMCH on 8 August. She passed away at 9 AM on 9 August.
