Yaba tablets amounting to Rs 45 crore seized, 4 arrested in Cachar

way2barak June 10: Based on a credible intelligence on yesterday in the wee hours Cachar Police launched a special operation against the illegal transportation of narcotic substance at Sonabarighat, Silchar and intercepted two vehicles – AS 23BC/8179(Ashok Leyland) truck carrying LPG Cylinders and MZ 01S/0190, Bolero coming from Mizoram and apprehended two persons namely,

1)Saidur Rahman Barbhuyan, 23yrs , S/O Safaruddin Barbhuiya, resident of Bilaipur, Hailakandi.

2) Sibul Hussain Laskar, 28yrs S/O Faizur Rahman Laskar resident of Katlicherra, Hailakandi.

During thorough search police team recovered 5 packets containing 50000 suspected YABA tablets concealed inside LPG cylinder from the vehicle No. AS23 BC/8179. The price of seized article worth about Rs. 15 crores in the black market. Both the vehicles and the narcotic substance have been seized in presence of independent witnesses. During examination drug detection kit showed positive results for mescaline drugs .

On the same day in the evening hours Cachar Police launched another special operation against the illegal transportation of narcotic substance at Bethukandi area under the jurisdiction of Silchar Police Station and apprehended two persons namely,

1)Taramani Laskar, 52yrs

S/o Late Safiqur Rahman Lashkar

Madhurband, Silchar

2)Motiul Islam, 53 yrs

S/o Late Nurul Islam

Sutkabari, PS – Kotwali

Dist Coochbehar, West Bengal

During thorough search police team recovered 10 packets containing 100000 suspected YABA tablets concealed inside LPG cylinders in an abandoned house.The price of the psychotropic substances is worth about Rs. 30 crores in the black market. The recovered narcotic substance has been seized in presence of independent witnesses. During the examination conducted at the place of occurrence, drug detection kit showed positive results for mescaline drugs. During preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the psychotropic substance has been illegally transported from Siaha, Kolashib, Mizoram.Further investigation into the matter has been on, said Numal Mahatta SSP Cachar.
