Schools in Cachar district to remain closed on June 2nd and 3rd

way2barak, June 1 : In view of the persistent and widespread heavy rainfall lashing several regions of Cachar district, the district administration has taken a proactive step to safeguard the lives and well-being of school-going children and educational staff. With updated meteorological forecasts warning of continued adverse weather conditions, the risks of waterlogging, road blockages, and other rain-induced hazards have heightened, particularly impacting daily commutes and school operations.

Responding swiftly to the evolving situation, and prioritising public safety, the Cachar district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions including Government, Provincialised, Private, and Venture Schools for two days, Monday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 3, 2025. This temporary closure extends to all schools, regardless of their managing authority, board of affiliation, or geographical location within the district.

This preventive measure has been deemed necessary to avoid any untoward incidents and to ensure that students, teachers, and associated personnel are not exposed to avoidable risks posed by the ongoing inclement weather. Authorities have been instructed to ensure prompt dissemination of this directive through all suitable communication channels to reach the wider public effectively.

The order has been issued with the approval of the District Magistrate, Cachar, and shall come into immediate effect.

This is stated in a press release issued from Regional office of Information & Public Relations Barak valley Zone Silchar Assam.
