Class XII marks not needed anymore, College admissions to be based on common entrance test

March 22: The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday stated all central universities funded by it, including the Delhi University, will have to use the new Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores to admit students to undergraduate programmes. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to start the registration process for CUET 2022.

The registration process will be conducted by the National Testing Agency on the official site of NTA — nta.ac.in. The CUET examination will be conducted in 13 languages, namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English by NTA.

Further, Class 12 marks obtained by the candidates will not be considered for admission henceforth. CUET will be administered by the National Test Agency (NTA) in the first week of July for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission on the first-ever mandatory common entrance test for admission to undergraduate programmes in all the 45 Central universities said, “I would say this is a very student-friendly reform. The existing admission policies of the universities will remain the same. The only change will be the CUET score.”
