আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শিক্ষক সংস্থার নির্বাচনে জমে উঠেছে লড়াই, মুখোমুখি দুই প্যানেল

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১১ মে : আগামী ১৪ মে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে চলেছে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শিক্ষক সংস্থার (আউটা) নির্বাচন। নির্বাচনকে কেন্দ্র করে ইতিমধ্যেই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় চত্বরে চর্চা ও উৎসাহ তুঙ্গে উঠেছে। এবারের নির্বাচনে দুটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ প্যানেল বিভিন্ন পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় অবতীর্ণ হওয়ায় শিক্ষক মহলে ভোটের আবহ আরও জমে উঠেছে। একদিকে রয়েছে ড. অমিত কুমার দাসের নেতৃত্বাধীন প্যানেল, অন্যদিকে অধ্যাপক দেবাশিস সেনগুপ্তর নেতৃত্বাধীন প্যানেল। দুই পক্ষই নিজেদের অভিজ্ঞতা, সাংগঠনিক দক্ষতা এবং শিক্ষক স্বার্থরক্ষার অঙ্গীকারকে সামনে রেখে প্রচার চালাচ্ছেন।

সভাপতি পদপ্রার্থী ড. অমিত কুমার দাসের প্যানেলে সহ-সভাপতি পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন অধ্যাপক নবেন্দু সেন। তিনি এবার নতুন মুখ হলেও ছাত্রাবস্থায় দীর্ঘদিন রাজনীতির সঙ্গে যুক্ত ছিলেন। সাধারণ সম্পাদক পদে রয়েছেন ড. বিশ্ব রঞ্জন রায়। যুগ্ম সম্পাদক পদে প্রার্থী হয়েছেন ড. গোবিন্দ শর্মা এবং ড. প্রণব সরকার। কোষাধ্যক্ষ পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন ড. দৃষ্টিরূপা পাটগিরি। অন্যদিকে, সভাপতি পদপ্রার্থী অধ্যাপক দেবাশিস সেনগুপ্তের প্যানেলে সহ-সভাপতি পদে রয়েছেন অধ্যাপক মুকুট শর্মা। সাধারণ সম্পাদক পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন ড. মোনালি লংমাইলাই। যুগ্ম সম্পাদক পদে প্রার্থী হয়েছেন ড. প্রণবেশ রঞ্জন চক্রবর্তী এবং ড. হেমলতা কেরকেট্টা। কোষাধ্যক্ষ পদে রয়েছেন ড. মৃত্যুঞ্জয় পাধিয়ারি।

নির্বাচনী প্রচারে দুই পক্ষই শিক্ষক সমাজের বিভিন্ন সমস্যা, প্রশাসনিক স্বচ্ছতা, একাডেমিক পরিবেশের উন্নয়ন, শিক্ষক-অধিকার রক্ষা এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সামগ্রিক উন্নয়নকে মূল ইস্যু হিসেবে তুলে ধরছে। তরুণ ও অভিজ্ঞ শিক্ষকদের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত দুটি প্যানেলই নিজেদের “সমন্বিত ও কার্যকর নেতৃত্ব”-এর প্রতিশ্রুতি দিচ্ছে। তাই সবমিলিয়ে দুই শিবিরের প্রচার, মতবিনিময় এবং সমর্থন আদায়ের তৎপরতায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় চত্বরে নির্বাচনী আবহ স্পষ্ট হয়ে উঠেছে। এখন দেখার, আগামী ১৪ মে শিক্ষকরা শেষ পর্যন্ত কাদের হাতে আউটার নেতৃত্ব তুলে দেন।

Way2barak, May 11 : The election for the Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) is scheduled to be held on May 14, and the university campus is already witnessing heightened enthusiasm and intense discussions surrounding the polls. With two full-fledged panels contesting for various posts this year, the election atmosphere among the teaching community has become increasingly vibrant. One panel is led by Dr. Amit Kumar Das, while the other is headed by Prof. Devasish Sengupta. Both sides are campaigning actively, highlighting their experience, organisational capabilities, and commitment to safeguarding teachers’ interests.

In the panel led by presidential candidate Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Prof. Nabendu Sen is contesting for the post of Vice-President. Though a new face in the association election, he had long been associated with student politics during his academic years. Dr. Bishwa Ranjan Roy is contesting for the post of General Secretary. Dr. Gobind Sharma and Dr. Pranab Sarkar are in the fray for the posts of Joint Secretary, while Dr. Drishtirupa Patgiri is contesting for Treasurer.
On the other hand, in the panel headed by presidential candidate Prof. Devasish Sengupta, Prof. Mukut Sarmah is contesting for Vice-President. Dr. Monali Longmailai is the candidate for General Secretary. Dr. Pranabesh Ranjan Chakraborty and Dr. Hemlata Kerketta are contesting for the posts of Joint Secretary, while Dr. Mrityunjay Padhiari is the candidate for Treasurer.

During the campaign, both groups are focusing on issues concerning the teaching community, including administrative transparency, improvement of the academic environment, protection of teachers’ rights, and the overall development of the university. Both panels, comprising a blend of young and experienced teachers, are promising “inclusive and effective leadership.” As campaigning, interactions, and efforts to garner support intensify, the election mood has become clearly visible across the university campus. All eyes are now on May 14, when teachers will decide who will lead AUTA in the coming term.
