Girl students of Assam to get ₹100 per day as incentive for attending school

Jan. 4: In order to encourage girl students for attending classes, Assam government has now come up with a unique endeavour. Disclosing the move, State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his government has contemplated to give Rs 100 every day to school and college-going female students of Assam. This move was contemplated so that the girls can get inspired to attend their classes regularly. The money will be given to the girls of both schools and colleges.

The announcement was made by the Education Minister while attending the distribution function of motorbikes to girls in Sivsagar who passed HS Final exam in 1st division. Himanta Biswa Sarma further claimed that an amount of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 respectively, for UG and PG students, will be deposited in their bank accounts by the end of January 2021 so that they can utilise the money for purchasing books. “We had planned this last year itself but couldn’t implement it because of the spread of Covid-19,” said the Education Minister.
