City Livelihood Center for the SHGs to sell their products inaugurated at NRDI hall, Silchar

August 3: Deputy Commissioner Cachar, Keerthi Jalli formally inaugurated City Livelihood Center under Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission Society at NRDI hall Nazirpartty Silchar here on Tuesday.

DC Jalli graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in presence of representatives of MP and MLA Silchar. While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli said, “I am elated to see the enthusiasm of the SHG members to make the City Livelihood Center a successful project”. She also highlighted the necessity of collaborative approach of the SHG members to utilise mutual skill and make the livelihood efforts successful.

Emphasising on the success stories of self help groups in different parts of the country, Jalli said, “SHG should work on professional mode and there is a lot opportunity to make the SHG products available on the e-commerce platform. I urge existing SHG network of SHG to spread the message among customer.”

Deputy Commissioner Cachar and other dignitaries also purchased a lot of SHG products from the store on the occasion. Earlier, the Executive Officer of Silchar Municipality Board, Jessica Rose Lalsim welcomed the guests and the participants. The City Project Manager also elaborated the objective of the programme and the purpose of City Livelihood Center.

It is pertinent to mention that City Livelihood Center is like a shop for the SHGs to sell their products and a service center for the service providers. The main target is to bring all SHGs in to the fold of City Livelihood Center so that they can move from unorganised to the organised manner mood of working.

The programme was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Cachar, Abhinav Singh, Lead District Manager ,Arunjoyti Dey, City Project Manager NULM.
