Barak Valley registers 150 Covid +ve cases on Sunday, 314 discharged & 3 deaths recorded

There are 3,301 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

June 20: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Saturday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less. A total of 150 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day.  Further, during the day, 314 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three  districts of the valley. At present, there are 3,301 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Saturday, Barak Valley registered 262 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Sunday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 98 positive cases   (It was 172 on Saturday)
  • Karimganj: 39 positive cases (It was 75 on Saturday)
  • Hailakandi: 13 positive cases (It was 15 on Saturday)

 A total of 98 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Sunday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 3,745 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 54 persons were found positive, whereas 44 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 16,477, whereas during this phase, 14,586 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,734.  Also, 191 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 19 June to 5 PM on 20 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Green Heals Pvt Hospital and Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Both of them.

The 02 deceased at SMCH were identified as Dhananjoy Das (70) from Daramkhal in Cachar district and Pradip Tanti (74) from Laboc Tea Estate in Cachar. Another person died during the day at Green heals Pvt Hospital, Silchar. The deceased was identified as Asit Baran Das (78) from Cachar district. he was admitted at Green Heals on 17 June. The man passed away on 20 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 20 June, there were 135 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 78 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 57 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 96 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 23 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 17 of them were discharged. Further, 02 of them have opted for admission at Covid Care Centre.

Hailakandi registered only 13 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Of the 13 positive cases detected on Sunday, 10 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 03 persons were found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 571 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 544 RAT tests and 75 RT-PCR tests were done. 49 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,369. As of now, a total of 3,381 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 15 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Saturday.

As of now, in the 62,424 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 18,256 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.

Karimganj registered 39 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday. The district has currently 996 active COVID-19 cases, while 74 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Sunday. 1,805 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 75 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Saturday.

On Sunday, out of 78,050 tests, 1,775 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,82,505. The positivity rate in the state is 2.27 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 133 positive cases during the day. Further, on Sunday, 30 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,208. The recovery rate is 92.17 percent.  On Sunday, 3,559 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,44,743 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 32,207 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 30 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 30 deceased, 05 are from Jorhat; 04 from Kamrup Rural; 03 from Kamrup Metro; 02 each from Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Kokhrajhar, Sivasgar & Sonitpur; 01 each from Cachar, Darrang, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon, Bongaigaon and Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,208.
