‘এইচপিসি বাঁচান, এখন নয় তো কখনই নয়’ অ্যাকশন কমিটি‘Save HPC, It’s now or never’: Action committee
September 21: HPC Paper Mill Revival Action Committee has already given a clarion call in a press meet held on September 18, when they declared that “We don’t want any discussion, we want declaration.” Manabendra Chakraborty, Chief Convenor of the Action Committee said that Sarbananda Sonowal has given many assurances but till now the truth of any such assurances has not been ascertained. He categorically stated that if the Chief Minister is unable to get the file of ‘Paper Mill Revival Plan’ cleared from the PMO, then the Action Committee will block NH-6 & NH-37 on 26 September.
Now, the Action Committee has made a fervent appeal to all the Citizens of Barak Valley, includes intellectuals, NGO’s, Students Organizations, Clubs, Political parties irrespective of differences to come forward & actively participate in Agitation as first phase to resort Blockade of National Highway No: 6 (at Katigorah/Kalain point) & National Highway No: 37 (at Panchgram Dholeswari point) on 26 September. The said blockade will start at 9 in the morning and continue till 1 in the afternoon.
In the leaflet distributed by the Action Committee, it was stated that “the agitation has been called to register protest against neglecting attitude of State & Central government towards the people of Assam by deliberately delaying to restart & revive HPC Paper Mills of Assam. The destruction of Industries caused unemployment of two lac people directly or indirectly & severely damaged the rural economy of Barak & Brahmaputra Valley. The lone heavy industrial asset of Barak Valley may be saved if the Revival plan approved by Cabinet of GOI is implemented. But intentional delay owing to serious conspiracy to extend unethical benefits to Private corporate Houses is an unfortunate event.”
The Action Committee said that this intentional delay tactics in releasing the salary has resulted in the lives of many employees. They lamented that the death of the 36 employees of the mill is only due to the indifference of the government. It is in this backdrop that they appealed to save HPC.
