88 new corona cases detected; tally rises to 2,608 in Hailakandi district

7 Sept. : 88 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Monday, taking the total tally to 2,608.

Health authorities here disclosed that of the 88 positive cases, 87 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). 1,030 swab samples have been taken on Monday.

Altogether 1,409 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 2,167 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals.The number of active cases is 424. Six COVID-19 positive patients have breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 11 deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’ by the State level Death Audit Board. 145 COVID-19 afflicted asymptomatic persons are under home isolation.

Of the 23,345 swab samples taken, 18,951 have tested negative. Swab results of 2,315 persons are awaited. The district administration has stepped up swab samples collection. Altogether 55,223 swab samples were taken under RT-PCR and RAT. 40-45 mobile medical teams have fanned out to different parts of the district.
