Bikram Kairi, IAS comes forward to start a study centre for Civil Service aspirants at his native place Udharbond

September 24: Possibilities were explored to start a Study Centre for Civil Service aspirants in Udharbond area of Cachar district. Such a wish was nourished by Bikram Kairi, IAS, who hails from Udharbond in Cachar district. Bikram Kairi was presently posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia. However, when such a meeting was going on in Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond on Monday afternoon; in the evening came the news that Bikram Kairi was promoted to the coveted post of Deputy Commissioner of Majuli by the Government of Assam.

The discussion on the issue of starting a Study Centre for Civil Service aspirants took place at Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond, which was chaired by Somarendro Singha Sarangthem, Principal of the College. Speaking during the meeting, Bikram Kairi gave a detailed presentation about how to start such initiative, what are the requirements and how to run such a centre.  It needs mention here that Bikram Kairi was the pioneer to start a a similar venture named Prayas at Margherita two years back. 

It was indeed a very fruitful meeting and everyone present there agreed to the need of starting such a Study Centre for Civil Service aspirants in Udharbond area. Jagannath Singh College authority expressed their willingness to initiate the process after follow up consultation with the stakeholders. In his speech, Bikram Kairi said, “I would love to be associated with such a venture which would enable the youth of my native place to crack the Civil Service examination in large numbers.”

Also present in the thought provoking meeting were Surja Kumar Sarma, the President of the College Governing Body, Kshounish Chakraborty, President of the DNHS School Governing Body, Dr. Gongesh Bhattacharjee-Head, Department of History, other faculty members of the college, Pranabananda Das-eminent Journalist & one of the pillars of the Udharbond Table Tennis Club among others. 

Speaking during the occasion, Pranabananda Das said, “On behalf of the Table Tennis Club, I assure all sorts of support to this unique initiative and promise to offer all sorts of cooperation. Further, I would like to thank Bikram Kairi for his passion and sincerity towards his native place.” Others present in the meeting also praised the initiative of Bikram Kairi which would go a long way in enabling the youth of Udharbond to become civil servants.
