With 133 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 465 on 19 May, 5 deaths at SMCH

Active cases 1,605 in Cachar

May 19: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Wednesday at 11.15 PM. As per the latest data, 133 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 465 persons were found positive in the district on 19 May. Earlier, at 6.00 PM, it was informed that 332 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,605. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Tuesday was 342.

As per the updated data, a total of 6,040 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 316 persons were found positive, whereas 149 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 5,386 in 2021, whereas during the year, 3,737 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, Suman Choudhury informed that out of the 1,605 active patients:

  • 264 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 10 in MH
  • 22 at SMDCH
  • 40 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 38 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 18 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 10 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 21 at Valley Hospital
  • 06 at South City Hospital
  • 02 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
  • 1,174 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 05 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 05 deceased at SMCH during the last 24 hours, 03 are from Cachar district and 02 are from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as: Shiraj Uddin Choudhury (78) from Shahabad, Lala in Hailakandi district,  Husne Ara Begum Choudhury (40) from Lala in Hailakandi, Shankar Paul Choudhury (56) from Tarapur, Silchar, Dilip Roy (70) from Sarat Pally in Silchar and Jiten Kangshabanik (74) from Bilpar, Silchar.
