Re-polling to be held in 43 polling booths in Assam

December 6: Re-polling will be held in 43 polling booths in Assam in connection with first phase of Panchayat polls held in 16 districts of Assam.

Re-polling in 27 polling stations in Lakhimpur district will be held on December 10 while it will be held tomorrow (December 7) in rest of the polling stations. The re-polling will start at 7 am. Apart from the 27 polling booths in Lakhimpur, there are three in Kamrup district, four in Dhemaji, two in Dhakuakhana, two in Sivasagar, one in Titabar, one in Charaideo, one in Bishwanath, and two in Gohpur.

As per data available with the State Election Commissioner Assam, the first phase of Panchayat Elections  recorded 74.32 % polling with Darrang district registering the highest polling percentage at 81. 52. Sadiya recorded the lowest turnout at 65.58 percent.

The 16 districts which went for for polling on December 5 are -Tinsukia, Dibrugrah,Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Majuli,Golaghat, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Morigaon, Kamrup (M) and Kamrup.
