2 more Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

59 patients in ICU, 10 in ventilator support & 70 put under oxygen at SMCH

July 14: The Covid-19 situation in Cachar is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 14 July to 5 PM on 15 July) witnessed the death of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Thursday evening. Both of them are from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:

  • Kalyan Kumar Deb (65) from Udharbond in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 2 July. The patient, however, passed away at 8.45 PM on 14 July.
  • Kartik Goala (80) from Badri Basti in Cachar district got admitted at SMCH on 13 July. He expired at 9 PM on 14 July.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 15 July, there were 89 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 59 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 30 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 10 patients were put under ventilator support and 70 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 10 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 06 of them were discharged.
