With 169 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 404 on 16 May, 4 deaths at SMCH

Active cases 1,299 in Cachar

May 16: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Sunday at 10 PM. As per the latest data, 169 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 404 persons were found positive in the district on 16 May. As per records, this is the highest single day spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in Cachar since 2020. Earlier, at 6.00 PM, it was informed that 235 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,299. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Saturday was 352.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,688 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 230 persons were found positive, whereas 174 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 4,302 in 2021, whereas during the year, 3,328 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 1,299 active patients:

  • 214 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 08 in MH
  • 14 at SMDCH
  • 30 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 38 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 20 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 14 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 17 at Valley Hospital
  • 944 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 04 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. All the 04 deceased at SMCH during the last 24 hours are from Cachar district.

The 04 deceased were identified as: Bappa Roy (43) from Borjalenga in Cachar district, Shibani Das (66) from Srima Pally in College Road, Silchar, Haridas Roy (75) from Salgonga in Cachar district and Sajal Kanti Malakar (48) from Tarapur, Silchar.
