Delegation from top Delhi Universities visits NIT Silchar for educational and cultural exchange

Way2barak, April 1 : Under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam” programme, a delegation comprising 50 students and 5 faculty members from JNU Delhi, Delhi University, Indira Gandhi National Open University and Indraprastha University reached NIT Silchar campus on Friday. The team received a grand welcome at Badarpur railway station and NIT Silchar by the administration of NIT Silchar. NIT Silchar and JNU Delhi are the nodal agencies on behalf of the Ministry of Education for this particular “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam”programme. The delegate members will stay in Assam from 31st March to 5th April 2023 to understand the rich culture and traditions of the region.

The purpose of the visit is to provide the youths of the nation an enriching experience to understand the culture, tradition, ethnicity and environment of various states and engage in exchanging their values to make a progressive nation. The visit also aims to promote Tourism, Traditions, Development, Technology and people to people connection. The delegation will visit Jalinga Tea Estate, Borail Eco Park, Sonbeel and adjoining districts, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Haflong, and Guwahati as a part of the trip.

Welcome the students and faculty delegation from Delhi, Professor Rajat Gupta Director NIT Silchar said, ” This is a unique opportunity for students and faculties from premier Universities of Delhi and NIT Silchar to understand the cultural milieu within the ambit of “Unity in Diversity” under “Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Yuva Sangam”. This initiative in particular is a life enriching opportunity for the youths to have an immersive experience of the multi-dimensional facets of life and development. He said, we at NIT Silchar are humbled to be a part of this unique initiative under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and stewardship of C. Dharmendra Pradhan, Honourable Union Minister of Education and Skill Development.

Professor, K.L.Baishnab, Registrar, NIT Silchar joins in welcoming the youth team from Delhi and other delegates accompanying the team. He said such a visit shall offer a unique experience to the youths of the country to understand each other and unite the young stars in the nation building process more inclusively.

Dr. Biplob Das, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Silchar will be the Programme Co-ordinator on behalf of NIT Silchar and will be mentoring the Delhi youth team and faculty delegation during the entire course of the tour.

It is to be mentioned that “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam” aspires to establish an interrelationship between the youth of the North Eastern States and the rest of India. The event is being organised comprising 11 higher Educational Institutions from North Eastern States and 14 Educational Institutions from the rest of the country that has been linked for reciprocal visits. In the first phase of the visit, a team of youths from Assam co-ordinated by NIT Silchar visited JNU Delhi and NITTR Chandigarh in the month of February- March 2023. Also NIT Silchar successfully hosted the youths from Chandigarh led by NITTR Chandigarh and coordinated their entire trip to Assam .
