Water level of major rivers in Barak Valley rising at multiple places on Sunday

May 15: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of all major rivers in Barak Valley including river Barak started to increase. As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 7 PM on Sunday was flowing above the danger level and was at 20.08 metre. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level was rising by 2 cm per hour.

  • Again, the water level of Barak at Lakhipur on 15 May (at 6 PM) was 24.48 metres as against the danger level of 23.88 metres. The water level is rising here by 4 cm per hour.
  • The water level of River Rukni at Dholai on 15 May (at 6 PM) was 22.81 metres as against the danger level of 24.58 metres. The water level is rising here by 2 cm per hour.
  • The water level of River Sonai at Amraghat on 15 May (at 6 PM) was 21.77 metres as against the danger level of 26.96 metres. The water level is rising here by 3 cm per hour.
  • The water level of River Dholeswari at Gharmura on 15 May (at 6 PM) was 22.38 metres as against the danger level of 28.05 metres. The water level is rising here by 2 cm per hour.
  • The water level of River Katakhal at Matijuri on 15 May (at 6 PM) was 18.39 metres as against the danger level of 20.27 metres. The water level is falling here by 2 cm per hour.
  • The water level of River Kushiyara at Karimganj on 15 May (at 6 PM) was 15.69 metres as against the danger level of 14.94 metres. The water level is static here since 5 PM on Sunday.
