Validity of vehicle registration, licence etc. extended in Assam till 31 July
July 1: The validity of all registration, license, permits etc. of vehicles has been extended till 31 July in Assam. This was notified a press release issued by Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary. The order issued by Assam government is in compliance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India.
According to this order, the late payment or fine for delay of renewal of all registration, license, permits etc. of vehicles has also been waived off in Assam. Further, the compounding fees or fine for delay in payment of Commercial Tax of both passenger vehicles and goods vehicles have also been waived off till 31 July.
In view of the lockdown imposed by the spread of COVID-19, citizens may face difficulty in renewal of validity of various documents related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India,issued an order that the validity of fitness, permit (all types), driving license, registration or any other documents whose extension of validity could not or not likely to be processed due to lockdown will be treated as valid and which have expired since February 1, 2020 will be treated to be valid till 31 July, 2020.
