১৯ নভেম্বর : একই আসনে একই দলের দুই প্রার্থীর মনোনয়ন জমা দেওয়ার ঘটনাকে ঘিরে হাইলাকান্দিতে সোমবার তীব্র চাঞ্চল্য দেখা দিয়েছে। মাটিজুরি পাইকান জেলা পরিষদ আসনের এই দুই প্রার্থীই কংগ্রেসের টিকিটে নির্বাচনী মাঠে নামেন।

সোমবার মনোনয়ন জমা দেবার শেষদিনে হাইলাকান্দি জেলা পরিষদের সিইও শান্তিকুমার সিংয়ের কাছে কংগ্রেস প্রার্থী মমতাজ রানা লস্কর মনোনয়ন পত্র জমা দিতে গেলে বিষয়টি সামনে আসে। দেখা যায়, গত শুক্রবার এই আসন থেকে কংগ্রেসের টিকিটে মনোনয়ন পত্র জমা দিয়েছেন আসমা বেগম লস্কর। প্রথমে আধিকারিক জমা নিতে অস্বীকার করেন। পরে বিষয়টি জেলাশাসকের নজরে নেওয়া হয়।

এ নিয়ে মমতাজ রানাকে প্রশ্ন করা হলে তিনি প্রদেশ কংগ্রেস কমিটির সাধারণ সম্পাদকের স্বাক্ষর সহ নথি তুলে ধরে নিজেকে কংগ্রেস প্রার্থী হিসেবে দাবি করেন। সঙ্গে মমতাজ আগে মনোনয়ন দাখিল করা আসমা বেগমের টিকিট বাতিলের নির্দেশপত্রটিও পেশ করেন। এরপর অবশ্য আধিকারিক মমতাজের মনোনয়ন পত্রটি গ্রহণ করেন।

এ দিকে কংগ্রেসের দুই প্রার্থীর মধ্যে কে শেষ পর্যন্ত ময়দানে থাকবেন, তা এখনও নিশ্চিত নয়। আধিকারিক জানান, মঙ্গলবার মনোনয়ন পত্র পরীক্ষার পরই তা চূড়ান্ত হবে। কিন্তু কী করে কংগ্রেস একই আসনে দু’জনকে টিকিট দিল, এ নিয়ে রাজনৈতিক মহলে জোর চর্চা শুরু হয়েছে।

November 19: In a dramatic development, two candidates belonging to the to the same part filed nomination for the same post at Hailakandi district. This has led to an atmosphere of suspense. Both the candidates have filed their nomination from Congress for the post of Zilla Parishad member from Matijuri Paikhan.

Monday was the last day for filing nomination for the Panchayat Election 2018. When Congress candidate Mumtaj Rana Laskar went to file her nomination, the matter came to the notice of Zila Parishad CEO Shanti Kumar Singh. On investigation, it was revealed that on last Friday, one Asma Begum Laskar had already submitted her nomination for the same post on Congress ticket. On Monday, the officer initially refused to accept the nomination of Mumtaj, but later on the matter was referred to the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi.

On being asked, Mumtaj Rana Laskar on the basis of a document signed by the General Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress claimed that she is the actual Congress party nominated candidate for the post. Along with it, she also produced another letter wherein instruction was given for cancellation of party ticket of Asma Begum. Finally, the officials accepted the nomination paper of Mumtaj Rana Laskar.

meanwhile, it is still not certain as regards who will ultimately be eligible to contest the polls as a candidate of Congress party. The officials informed that the matter will be decided only after scrutiny of the nomination forms on Tuesday. But the million dollar question which is doing the round in political circles is how can Congress give tickets for the same post to two different persons!
