Top leader of HPC (P) terror outfit arrested in Cachar

way2barak, Dec.24: An “anti-talk group” top leader of Hmar People’s Convention (President) [HPC (P)] terror outfit was arrested on Saturday. On the basis of a secret information, Lakhipur Police and Assam Rifles undertook a joint operation on Saturday and apprehended Lalminthang Sanate, a self-styled chairman of the terror outfit HPC(P).

Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta informed that four 0.32 pistols and 48 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the possession of the apprehended ‘terrorist’ Lalminthang Sanate. He was involved in several crimes including kidnapping and extortion.

Police Super Mahatta further informed, “Earlier, he was arrested three times, twice in Cachar and once in Tezpur. Since many years he has been trying to unify the groups of the terror outfit which is divided into four. For the past three months he was residing in Manipur’s Churachandpur district and tried to acquire arms and ammunition.”
