New Students’ Union of Assam University takes oath

November 23: The newly formed Students’ Union of Assam University was administered oath of office in presence of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath, Registrar in-charge Dr. P.K. Nath, teachers and of course a host of students on Wednesday.

There was much jubilation among the students inside the auditorium when the office bearers took the oath. After the high voltage campaign, the election to Assam University Students’ Union (AUSU) took place on 18 November, 2019. The two most coveted post of President and General Sceretary went to Biswarup Bhattacharjee and Aritra Dhar. The post of Vice President went to Joydip Nandi. Suman Das and Tana Barman were elected as Assistant General Secretaries. G. Albert Rongmei won the post of Sports Secretary and Asish Kumar Basumatary became the Magazine Secretary.

Later on, speaking to way2barak, Aritra Dhar, the newly elected General Secretary of the students’ union said, “I don’t have any expression to show my gratitude towards all the students of our university. The kind of love warmth and affection they have showered on me is something I can never forget in my entire life. As the General Secretary of university, I promise to serve all the students equally without fear or favour. I promise to cater to the needs of the students irrespective of the caste, creed, religion, department or block they belong to. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the students for giving me the opportunity to serve them all. I look forward to their cooperation and guidance at every step of my tenure.”
