Night curfew to continue in all probability for sometime after 1 June: Himanta

May 27:  Lockdown 4.0 is going to come to an end on 31 May, 2020. However, night curfew in all probability will continue for some more days after 1 June in the state of Assam. This was hinted by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during an interview with a Guwahati based television channel. The minister also said that, if the corona situation does not deteriorate further, then gradually schools shall be reopened in the month of June after observing all safety procedures.

The minister expressed great displeasure at some sporadic incidents of violating the quarantine advisory. He insisted on strict quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to the community. Himanta said that many people were exhibiting unruly behaviour in the quaratine centres on the issue of quality of food served to them. The minister said that people who are put under quarantine should realise that they have not been invited and rather should cooperate with the administration. Any violation of quarantine norms in the facilities will lead to 14-day extension of quarantine period.
