With 133 more Covid-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 369 on 10 May; 1 death at SMCH

Active cases 953 in Assam

May 10: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Monday at 11.00 PM. As per the latest data, 133 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 369 persons were found positive in the district on 10 May, the highest single day spike of Covid cases in the district. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 236 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has now gone up to 953. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Sunday was 197.

As per the updated data, a total of 3,442 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 215 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 154 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Monday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 2,850 in 2021, whereas during the year, 1,874 patients were discharged.

Apart from This Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 953 active patients:

  • 175 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 09 in MH
  • 14 at SMDCH
  • 34 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 10 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 22 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 11 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 678 patients are in home isolation.

Further, the death of Covid positive patients continues at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Retired Additional Commissioner (ADC) Mriganko Mohan Das (82) was admitted at SMCH on 8 May. He was tested coronavirus positive. He, however, breathed his last at 10.50 PM on 9 May. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening.

As per sources, the wife of the deceased Mriganko Mohan Das was also learnt to be Covid positive and was undergoing treatment at SMCH. Their son, Mridul Mohan Das, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, GC College, Silchar has also been tested positive, but is in home isolation.
