২৭ সেপ্টেম্বরঃ বজ্রপাতে প্রাণ হারালেন শিলকুড়ির মহিলা গীতা রবিদাস। বৃহস্পতিবার বেলা ১১টা নাগাদ তিনি ঘরের দরজায় দাঁড়িয়ে কলসীতে বৃষ্টির জল পুরছিলেন। তখনই বজ্রপাতের শিকার হন। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে শিলচর মেডিকেল কলেজে নিয়ে যাওয়া হলে চিকিৎসকরা তাঁকে মৃত্ বলে ঘোষণা করেন।

এই ঘটনায় প্রবল বৃষ্টি উপেক্ষা করে গ্রামবাসী সহ আত্মীয়-স্বজনরা ছুটে যান। এলাকায় গভীর শোকের ছায়া নেমে এসেছে। গীতাদেবী স্বামী ও দুই কন্যাকে রেখে গিয়েছেন।

September 27: Struck by lightning, Gita Rabidas, a resident of Silkuri lost her life. On Thursday at around 11 in the morning, Gita was collecting water in a pitcher standing at the door of her house. it was at that moment that she was struck by lightning. At once she was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. But the doctors declared her to be dead.

Braving bad weather, her kith and kin rushed to see her. Sorrow captivated the entire area. Gita Rabidas is survived by her husband and two daughters.
