His daughter studies in an institute in Mumbai. On 29 September, the Gupta couple went to Mumbai to meet their daughter.

On the day of Bijoya Dashami morning, a neighbour of Raja Gupta informed him over telephone in Mumbai that the collapsible gate of his house was opened. On getting this information, Raja Gupta immediately informed one of his relative Ratan Paul to go to his house. On reaching there, Ratan Paul, a renowned teacher by profession found that the grill of the bed room was broken. It was easy to guess for him that the robber(s) entered through the window.

As nobody was there in the house, so it was easy for them to ransack the entire house. They broke the steel almirah’s and also opened and searched everything in the house for valuables. All the rooms of the houses were lying at sixes and sevens.

Interacting with way2barak from Mumbai, the house owner Raja Gupta said, “We are presently in Mumbai. When our neighbours informed that the collapsible gate of my house was open, I sent one of my relatives. Although we rarely keep any valuables in the home, but the robbers broke the lock of the steel almirah’s and also broke the boxes of the wooden beds. We have to repair them once we come back to Silchar.”

Meanwhile, Raja Gupta’s relative Ratan Paul lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Out Post on Wednesday.
