ধরনা থেকেই অনশন ঘোষণা গবেষকদেরResearch Scholars of Assam University to go for hunger strike from Friday
তাঁদের আন্দোলনে দুইদিন ধরে অচল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। মূল গেট বন্ধ করে বসে থাকায় কর্তৃপক্ষ বা শিক্ষক-ছাত্র কারও পক্ষে ভেতরে ঢোকা সম্ভব হয়নি। বন্ধ পঠনপাঠন। হচ্ছে না কোনও কাজকর্ম।
২০১৭ সাল থেকে গবেষকদের ফেলোশিপের অর্থ মিলছে না। দুই মাস পেরিয়ে গেলেও ২০১৯ সালের ফেলোশিপের আবেদন চায়নি এখনও। দ্রুত পুরনো অর্থ মেটানো এবং এই বছরের বিজ্ঞপ্তি জারির দাবিতে মঙ্গলবার আন্দোলনে নামেন তাঁরা। প্রথমদিন প্রশাসনিক ভবনের সামনে ধরনায় বসেন। বুধবার থেকে গেট আটকে দেওয়া হয়। বৃহস্পতিবার তাঁদের সঙ্গে আলোচনায় বসেন রেজিস্ট্রার সঞ্জীব ভট্টাচার্য। বকেয়া মেটানোর আশ্বাস দিলেও নতুন বিজ্ঞপ্তি জারির ব্যাপারে সময় চান তিনি।
একইভাবে ব্যাচেলর অব ভোকেশনাল কোর্সেস বিভাগের টাকাকড়ির তদন্ত সহ আরও কিছু দাবি নিয়ে কর্তৃপক্ষ এখনই সিদ্ধান্তে যাচ্ছেন না। তাদের অভিযোগ, কলেজ ডেভেলপমেন্ট কাউন্সিলের ডিরেক্টর দেবাশিস করের যোগসাজসে ভোকেশনাল কোর্সের প্রচুর টাকার নয়ছয় হয়েছে। এর তদন্ত দাবি করেন তাঁরা। একইসঙ্গে বিভাগটি বন্ধ করে দেওয়ার যে পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে, তা প্রত্যাহারেরও আর্জি জানান গবেষকরা। গবেষক সংস্থার সভাপতি মিলন দাস জানিয়েছেন, ১০০ শতাংশ দাবি না মিটলে তারা শুক্রবার থেকে অনশন শুরু করবেন।
এ দিকে, উপাচার্য দিলীপচন্দ্র নাথ এই সময়ে জাপানে রয়েছেন। তিনি শুক্রবার দেশে ফিরবেন। শনিবার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ফেরার কথা। এর মধ্যে কিছু হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা ক্ষীণ। এ দিকে, আগামী ১৪ মার্চ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সমাবর্তন হওয়ার কথা। কিন্তু আন্দোলনের দরুন প্রশাসনিক কাজকর্ম বন্ধ। ফলে সমাবর্তন উতসব নিয়েও অনিশ্চয়তা দেখা দিয়েছে।
Speaking to way2barak, President of AURSF Milon Das said, “The University authorities have provided the agitating students sympathetic chocolates in the name of any fruitful concrete resolution. As such we have come to the conclusion that unless and until our demands are fulfilled in toto, we will resort to hunger strike from Friday.”
Further, the students also alleged corruption and demanded an investigation as regards the Department of Bachelor of Vocational courses.
Assam University Research Scholars Association had submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor wherein they gave an ultimatum that if their demands are not fulfilled within 28 February then they would launch a vigorous agitation. However, the University authorities turned a deaf ear to their demands.
As such, the association has resorted to the path of agitation. Though they started their agitation in brief spells but since Tuesday, indefinite agitation was launched by them. The Research Scholars Association sat for dharna near the entrance of Raja Ram Mohan Roy Administrative building of the varsity. From Wednesday onwards, the students have launched sit-in-dharna in front of the University gate as a result of which the teachers and staff of the varsity are unable to enter the campus. The Vice Chancellor who at present in Japan is supposed to come to the varsity on Saturday.
The Research Scholars Association has made it clear that agitation was the last resort and they had no other options left. They were of the view that all democratic means of achieving their demands were exhausted due to the non-cooperation of the administration. They alleged that the University has failed to give a positive thought to their ‘legitimate’ demands.
Milon Das, President of the Assam University Research Scholars Association informed that they were yet to receive the Non-NET Fellowship of 2017-18 and 2018-19. In this regard, the University authorities have promised them several times that the said Fellowship amount would soon be released. However, the University did not act upon their promises. As such, they had no way left but to launch an agitation.
