ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২২ আগস্ট : জাতীয় মহাকাশ দিবস উদযাপনের প্রাক্কালে শুক্রবার আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগে এক বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। এতে মুখ্য বক্তা হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন আইআইটি, গুয়াহাটির অধ্যাপক শান্তব্রত দাস। মেঘনাদ সাহা কনফারেন্স কক্ষে আয়ুকা সেন্টার ফর অ্যাস্ট্রোনমি রিসার্চ অ্যান্ড ডেভেলপমেন্টের সহযোগিতায় আয়োজিত এই বক্তৃতার শিরোনাম ছিল ‘অদৃশ্য মহাবিশ্বের উন্মোচন: ব্ল্যাক হোল অ্যাক্রেশন সন্ধান’।

অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান অধ্যাপক হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস। তিনি অধ্যাপক শান্তব্রত দাসের জ্যোতির্পদার্থবিদ্যায় অবদানের কথা উল্লেখ করেন। প্রায় এক ঘণ্টার বক্তৃতায় অধ্যাপক দাস কৃষ্ণগহ্বর আকর্ষণের জটিল প্রক্রিয়া সহজভাবে তুলে ধরেন ও পরবর্তীতে শিক্ষার্থী ও অনুষদ সদস্যদের সঙ্গে প্রাণবন্ত আলোচনায় অংশ নেন।

প্রায় ১০০ জন অংশগ্রহণকারী অনুষ্ঠানটিতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এর মধ্যে স্নাতকোত্তর ও পিএইচডি গবেষক, অনুষদ সদস্য এবং গবেষণাগারের কর্মীরা ছিলেন বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য। উপস্থিত বিশিষ্টজনদের মধ্যে ছিলেন অধ্যাপক অশোক কুমার সেন, অধ্যাপক বি. ইন্দ্রজিৎ শর্মা, ড. উৎপল সরকার, ড. স্বর্ণদীপ বিশ্বাস ও ড. মহানন্দ বড়ো।

শেষে ধন্যবাদ সূচক বক্তব্য রাখেন অধ্যাপক অত্রি দেশমুখ্য। অনুষ্ঠানটি পরিচালনা করেন গবেষিকা সঞ্চালী নাথ মজুমদার।

Way2barak, August 22 : As a prelude to the National Space Day celebration, the Department of Physics, Assam University, Silchar, in association with the IUCAA Centre for Astronomy Research and Development (ICARD), organized a public lecture by Prof. Santabrata Das from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. The talk, titled “Unveiling the Invisible Universe: Tracing Black Hole Accretion”, was delivered at the Meghnad Saha Conference Room today.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Himadri Sekhar Das, Head of the Department of Physics, who highlighted Prof. Das’s significant contributions to the field of astrophysics. Prof. Santabrata Das delivered an engaging lecture for nearly an hour, explaining the fascinating processes of black hole accretion and interacting with students and faculty members in an enthusiastic discussion session.

The event was well attended, drawing an audience of about 100 participants, including postgraduate students, PhD scholars, faculty members, and laboratory staff. Notable attendees included Prof. Asoke Kumar Sen, Prof. B. Indrajit Sharma, Dr. Utpal Sarkar, Dr. Swarnadeep Biswas, and Dr. Mahananda Baro, among others.

The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Atri Deshamukhya. The event was smoothly conducted and hosted by Ms. Sanchali Nath Mazumdar. This lecture served as a curtain-raiser to the National Space Day-2025 celebrations, which will be formally inaugurated tomorrow at the Department of Physics, Assam University.
