Prof. Parthankar Choudhury Invited to World Applied Anthropology Congress 2026

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৬ জুলাই : ওয়ার্ল্ড অ্যাপ্লাইড অ্যানথ্রোপোলজি কংগ্রেস ২০২৬-এ আমন্ত্রিত বক্তা হিসেবে যোগ দিলেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পরিবেশবিদ্যা ও পরিবেশবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের অধ্যাপক পার্থঙ্কর চৌধুরী। গত ২৩ থেকে ২৬ জুলাই হায়দরাবাদের আইসিআরএসএটিতে আয়োজিত হয় সম্মেলন।

সম্মেলনের দ্বিতীয় দিনের প্লেনারি অধিবেশনে তিনি “জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন, জীববৈচিত্র্য সংরক্ষণ এবং প্রকৃতি-ভিত্তিক সমাধান: জলবায়ু-সহনশীল উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারত গঠনের সোপান” শীর্ষক বক্তৃতা প্রদান করেন। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাব মোকাবিলায় জীববৈচিত্র্য সংরক্ষণ, প্রকৃতি-ভিত্তিক সমাধান এবং উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের জলবায়ু সহনশীল উন্নয়নের বিভিন্ন দিক তুলে ধরেন তিনি।

এবারের সম্মেলনের মূল প্রতিপাদ্য ছিল “আন্তঃসংযুক্ত বিশ্ব: জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন ও অভিবাসনজনিত বৈশ্বিক ও স্থানীয় চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় নৃবিজ্ঞানের সম্পৃক্ততা”। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন ও অভিবাসনজনিত স্থানীয় ও বৈশ্বিক চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় নৃতাত্ত্বিক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির গুরুত্বকে কেন্দ্র করেই এই আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলনের আয়োজন করা হয়।

উল্লেখ্য, অ্যানথ্রোপোলজিক্যাল অ্যাসোসিয়েশন ফর হিউম্যানকাইন্ড দীর্ঘদিন ধরে বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের গবেষক, নীতিনির্ধারক এবং বাস্তবক্ষেত্রে কর্মরত বিশেষজ্ঞদের একত্রিত করে পরিবেশের অবক্ষয়, মানব বাস্তুচ্যুতি এবং সম্প্রদায়ভিত্তিক অভিযোজন কৌশল নিয়ে কাজ করে আসছে। এই আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন সেই প্রচেষ্টাকেই আরও শক্তিশালী করার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উদ্যোগ হিসেবে বিবেচিত হচ্ছে।

Way2barak, July 26 : Prof. Parthankar Choudhury of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Assam University, participated as an invited speaker at the World Applied Anthropology Congress 2026, held at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, from July 23 to 26.

During the plenary session on the second day of the congress, Prof. Choudhury delivered a lecture titled “Climate Change, Biodiversity Conservation and Nature-based Solutions: Pathways to Building a Climate-Resilient North-East India.” In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation, nature-based solutions, and climate-resilient development strategies for North-East India in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.

The theme of this year’s congress was “Interconnected Worlds: Engaging Anthropology in Addressing Global and Local Challenges of Climate Change and Migration.” The international event focused on the role of anthropological perspectives in understanding and responding to the intertwined global and local challenges arising from climate change and migration.

It is noteworthy that the Anthropological Association for Humankind has long been bringing together researchers, policymakers, and field practitioners from across the world to address issues related to environmental degradation, human displacement, and community-based adaptation strategies. The World Applied Anthropology Congress 2026 was regarded as a significant initiative to strengthen these collaborative efforts and promote interdisciplinary dialogue on pressing global challenges.
